Is Your Website Ready For A Redesign?

Posted on November 8, 2018

Is it time? There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Honestly, it depends on how you and your customers user your website.

We typically recommend having your website redesigned every 3-5 years. The more outdated your website is, the more likely you are to lose business to a more current, up-to-date competitor.

Here is a checklist to determine if you’re ready for a website redesign:

  1. Is your website designed to be responsive?
Mobile devices now account for about half of all web traffic. Wouldn’t you hate to lose business solely based on the fact that no one could look at your site on his or her phone during their lunch break? A responsive website is the key to making sure you don’t lose any potential business. It enables anyone, on any device, to view your website. Plain and simple.
  2. What’s your conversion rate?
How often are your website visitors becoming customers? Are they staying on your site long enough to see the most important aspects of your business? Redesigning your website is the perfect time to make changes that will lead to higher conversion rates.
  3. How does your website look and operate when compared to your competitors?
Sometimes it can be as simple as reorganizing information so it’s easier to find. Other times it can be more complex and require a complete redesign. See the next item in this list…
  4. Is your website taking advantage of the bleeding edge technology?
Websites can do some pretty neat things these days, and there are endless options to tailoring your website to your exact needs. Evaluate your website. What updates can be made to ensure you’re getting maximum exposure? Consider modern web browsers, new mobile devices, and new design standards when evaluating your current website.
  5. Do search engines know you exist?
Search engines such as Google, Bing, and even Yahoo like websites that have content that is frequently updated. If you can keep your site updated yourself using a content management system, this will help search engines rank your site higher in their results, which can ultimately increase the number of potential customers visiting your site.

As you can see, there are many factors to consider when considering a website redesign. The five items above are just scratching the surface. Where do you begin?
