Social Media News – Week of 2/9

Posted on February 10, 2015

Compared to last week, not much has happened in the world of social media, but that doesn’t mean that the changes that have occurred aren’t important. This week we’re looking at changes to Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Read on to find out what’s new!

Twitter

Businesses can now easily promote Tweets within their dashboard.

Do you advertise on Twitter? Then you’d probably agree – it’s a little bit of a hassle. There are a lot of steps to take just to promote a tweet, but the end product is worth the work. If you hate jumping through those hoops, get ready to get excited. Twitter has just introduced Quick Promote, a new feature that allows small and medium-sized businesses to easily promote their best content on Twitter. We’re so excited about this new feature and can’t wait to try it!

Speaking of exciting Twitter news, the company has just reached a deal with Google to show Tweets in Google’s search results. This is great; it allows for Tweets to be seen by logged out and non-users. Your Twitter audience just got a lot bigger!

Instagram

A while ago, Instagram introduced video capabilities in an attempt to steal more of the Vine market. Now it appears they’ve done it again, because Instagram videos now loop just like Vine videos. Only time will tell whether users think this is annoying or convenient.

YouTube

In extremely cool news, YouTube is rolling out a very interesting feature: the ability to switch angles while watching a video. While the functionality is very limited right now, this has the potential to be incredibly awesome!

This week just goes to show: you can never predict the way the social media will change. Last week there were so many changes it was almost hard to cover all of them – this week there are hardly any changes at all. What will happen next week? We can’t be sure just yet, but check back in with our blog or social media platforms to read our latest social media news!
