Giving Thanks to Our Partners

Posted on November 26, 2014 by Jeff Pollard

This week seems like an appropriate time to stop and recognize our technology partners and vendors that provide the software and services that make our business run smoothly.

activeCollab

Our project management software, activeCollab, is literally what makes our business tick.  Without it, we’d probably be a disorganized mess.  activeCollab allows us to manage all of our projects with ease and helps us ensure that no deadline ever gets missed. Big thanks to them for continuing to develop great software.

SoftLayer

SoftLayer is our data center company where all of our hosting servers are housed. We currently have servers in their Dallas and Washington, DC data centers. SoftLayer is another cornerstone in our business and we’ve been hosting all of our servers with them since the earliest days of the business. Their global network infrastructure is something to behold. With over 2,000 gigabits per second of connectivity between their data centers and Points of Presence (POPs). All of that is to say that they have provided us with an incredibly secure, stable, and scalable environment in which to host our servers.

cPanel

While we’re on the topic of hosting, I want to give a quick shout out to the folks at cPanel. Their hosting control panel is indispensable to our hosting servers. Sure, many of us here at Torx are plenty savvy enough command line junkies to manage our server that way. But the truth is, CPanel makes our everyday tasks much easier and more efficient to perform. Hats off to their development team for continuing to make a product that perfectly balances user-friendliness with powerful features.

8x8

As a small business, there are lots of phone providers out there. It’s a very crowded industry that’s still changing rapidly. When it came time to decide on a VOIP (Voice Over IP) phone system at our first office, we looked at a lot of options: everybody from Comcast to Verizon offers business phone service nowadays. However, we wanted to go with a provider that had longtime experience in VOIP communications and had the flexibility to allow our business to grow with ease. 8×8 has proved us with impeccable service – I actually can’t think of a single time since we started using their service that our phones have not been working as a result of 8×8’s service. They even have iOS and Android apps that allow me to answer my office phone and check voicemail messages wherever I am.
