Video Marketing Ideas for Your Content Strategy

Posted on April 12, 2019 by Megan Hamlin

Thinking of putting your money toward video marketing but aren’t sure if you have the time or resources? You may not even be sure if it will be worth it in the end.

Luckily, you can create effective videos without a big production team. You can create video all on your own in a rather short amount of time.

But will it give you a nice return on investment?

Here are some pretty telling video marketing statistics you can’t ignore:

  • 85% of all Internet users in the US watched online video content monthly on any of their devices.
  • 25-34 year olds watch the most video.
  • YouTube receives more than 1.5 billion users per month and plays more than 1 billion hours of video each DAY. YouTube is definitely the most used video channel for marketers.
  • 87% of professionals take advantage of video marketing. Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Video isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Videos are a consumers’ favorite type of content to see from a brand or company on social media.
  • 54% of consumers want to see more video content from a brand or company they support.
  • 88% of video marketers are satisfied with the ROI of their video marketing efforts on social media.
  • Video marketers get 66% more qualified leads per year; 93% of marketers say they’ve acquired a new customer because of video on social media.
  • The average user spends 88% more time on a website with video. The more time a user spends on your site, Google will recognize your content as relevant and reliable, raising your standing on Google search. The better organic search results you have, the more times you will be seen over competitors.
  • Viewers are 95% more likely to remember a call to action after watching a video compared to 10% when reading text (I should’ve made this blog into a video😝).

Video content builds brand awareness (by 54% to be exact) and trust because of the quality of education video can deliver. It also keeps current customers informed and is a great resource to reach out to potential customers. 72% of people would rather use video to learn about a product or service as opposed to text. People are busy! We are constantly on the go. Video takes a shorter amount of time to digest than reading a whole page of text does. Video is an easy and comfortable way to retain info.

Most video is seen on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.

So, what types of videos can you create for your content marketing strategy?

  • Product videos: Record a short video that details your product(s) or services. These are a great way to explain how you can solve potential customers’ problems.
  • Tutorials/Demos: Going off Product videos, record videos showing users how to use your product(s) and its best features and benefits. The easier they see something is, the more likely they will be to purchase it.
  • Image films: Create videos about your company or organization. People love to put faces to a company. Teach your audience about who you are, why you do what you do, what you believe in, how you operate, your values, ethics, processes, your culture, etc. Be transparent.
  • Testimonials: People love to hear heart-felt success stories. Testimonials are a great way for potential customers to bond with current customers because of similar experiences. If you have a customer review or testimonial, that could be the difference in a potential customer supporting you over your competitor. Simply interview a happy customer and record it. Having raving fans of your business is a huge marketing technique to leverage.
  • LIVE stream video: LIVE stream videos are one of the fastest growing trends on social media. Get your smart phone out and record LIVE videos of you answering FAQs, showing your audience a behind-the-scenes look of your office space, training sessions, conferences, product launches, traveling, work areas, etc. The options are endless.

Convinced you should be incorporating video into your content marketing strategy yet? I hope so. Video can help you generate more results and can be done on a small budget without using up a lot of your precious time.
